After the first experiments in the Winter of 2003/2004, I was of course eager to see what the spring would bring...

There is a disused quarry in the Naab valley not far from Etterzhausen which should be quite a good place for "mysterious" photographs, especially in infrared. The ruins of the buildings there look to me as if they had been abandoned for at least a century, but I don't really know anything about it. In spring you sometimes stumble over lovers there because it is such a beautiful place. In this image you see one of the ruined walls, next to which the sun is shining though the foilage. |

The rural surroundings to the northwest of Regensburg look like someone had gone crazy with a giant yellow text-marker when the colza ("Raps") fields are in bloom... |

... and the clouds above those fields can be pretty impressive too! But in NI, the yellow flowers are only a little less bluish than the grass. |

Looking down a hillside to Grosspruefening. The pine trees to the right look as if loaded with snow, but they're not. Notice also how the fields in the distance come in many different shades while they look all the same in RGB. |

The river Danube and fields, west of Regensburg. The young plants in the field to the right reflect an enormous amount of NI! |

Close-up on a single tulip flower on my balcony. It's quite puzzling that the intensively red flower and its green stalk and leaves have all the same hue of NI... |

This is a gallery of infrared pictures of the medieval town of Regensburg. I don't really enjoy being in town because from a cyclist's perspective, you only notice the narrow and bumpy roads, noisy cars, huge buses and hurrying pedestrians. But in order to impress people with infrared photographs, I need to give them images of scenery they think they already know (in RGB color, that is)... and this is a lot more probable with famous "touristic standard" postcard views like the following...

The "IT Speicher" (with offices for information technology related firms and "startups") and a sugar plant ashore the Danube, near the harbour. |

This is the "Jakobstor", the western gate of the old city wall. Cars going past during the long exposure merely appear as blurred horizontal streaks... |

A group of tourists in front of the Dom, Regensburg's famous cathedral. Sad to say, since I can't take portrait oriented images in infrared with my small tripod, the spires of the towers are missing. |

Besides the Dom, Regensburg has another tourist magnet: a massive medieval stone bridge crossing the Danube. This is a view from the east, with a low sun shining through the archs. |

In this view from the west, you can see a peculiar, strong 950nm glow (appearing blue) from the algae on the walls near the water. |
